Elinchrom ELC 500 / 1000 watt Review

Elinchrom has introduced a new flash!!! The awesome Elinchrom ELC Pro HD 500 & 1000watt!
I’m not going into how happy I am with the Elinchrom brand and all the 1000 reasons you will love this brand as well, but I had the chance to play around with these puppy’s. They claim it will change the way a photographer thinks and well, I think thats a bold statement. However, it does have some very interesting stuff I like very, very much. Before going into the new “creative features”, here are a few things that I found worth mentioning right off the bat! Normally I don’t like talking about how things look… BUT!:

Starting the Photography business – Part 2

Model: Amesbury Rose | Designer: Rosies Art | MUAH: InYourFace

Check out Part I, where I talk about figuring out what you want in life. Now it’s time to flip that and turn it into something that can pay for your food and housing.

After I kinda figured out what I wanted to do, it was time to figure out how to get paid to do it. Knowing what you want, and getting paid for what you want are different things. I’ve never really liked business. I’m not a suit-wearing, networking-events-going kind of guy. I don’t really like talking to people I can’t relate to. You sometimes see people force themselves into relationships, trying to keep them because they want something from the other.

Starting the Photography Business – Part 1

Every person has his or her own way. I can only share with you the path I’ve walked. Once you have decided that photography is the thing you would like to pursue, you do some research on the photography businesses around you. And sooner or later you will hit a wall with a question that will stick for a while: Who am I? And what do I want that will make me happy? Before you figure out who you’re trying to reach with your work, you need to figure out who you are, and what it is you have to offer/give.

Vintage Clown – How this was Shot, Lit and build!

Model: Gwen | MUAH: Ria Kooijman | Set: Me

Gwen and I have done a few shoots together. We had some free time on a random thursday.
And thus we started throwing around ideas and images and came out with Vintage Clown.
Clowns are creepy and vintage once even more so.
Now that we had a clear idea on what we wanted the character to look like.

Elinchrom D-Lite RX One Review

RX One Review Richard Terborg

Short version:
I wish I knew about this flash sooner.
As a speedlighter looking for a little more studio kick, this little light weight Elinchrom Flash is very awesome!!! Cheaper than a brand speedlight (like canon 430/580ex ii, nikon sb900), able to use Elinchrom/Rotalux light accessories, able to bring the flash power down very low so you can shoot at f2.8 in the studio and get that beautiful Elinchrom quality of light.
Every speedlighter who is looking into getting a studio set should take closer look at this.

The Procrastinating Bone Collector || Breakdown

The Procrastinating Bone Collector

I thought it would be funny to create an old shady type interior in the garden shack.
With random bones hanging down and a shady cinematic lighting.
When I get an idea for an image, I usually make a quick sketch with whatever I can find laying around.

This is a good practice for a few reasons:
– It helps to get the idea out of your head right away and keeps the creative juices flowing.
– You start adding little elements to the scene or idea.
– You can start working out the lighting diagrams as you see them.
– It also helps you remember ideas if you can’t execute immediately. I wind up pinning them to my board
